About me

Delphine Gibassier

I am currently Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham Lloyds Centre for Responsible Business. I was previously Associate Professor in Management Control and Sustainability Accounting at Toulouse Business School, France.

I obtained my PhD from HEC Paris, a Master of Research from IAE de Paris and a Master in Accounting, Auditing and Information Systems from ESC Lille (now Skema Business School). Before joining academia I work as a management controller in GE Healthcare, Danone and Syngenta, in Paris, USA and Asia.
I have the particularity of speaking four languages and having lived in China, Japan, US, UK, Canada and Germany.

My research interests are in accounting for sustainable development. I research topics such as environmental accounting (biodiversity, carbon, water), integrated reporting, SDGs, local and complementary currencies through the lenses of innovations, professions and practices. I am a member of both CSEAR and EMAN networks.

I am passionate about linking research to teaching and practice and have developed several courses, case studies and modules (“Think and Create” on sustainability innovations) linked to what I do in research. I am also passionate about developing research and teaching that have an impact on society. This is why I interact with the accounting profession to develop the interest into accounting for sustainable development, including through reports, training, and directly participating in standardization processes. I also translate research into general media outlets, including meeting with the general public in events like the Researchers’ Night in Toulouse.
